Borrowing from our school Library
Students visit the library for borrowing with their class once a week but are encouraged to visit at lunchtimes to change over books whenever they need to.
All students are provided with an Ashtonfield Library bag after their enrolment at the school. It is expected that students use these bags for carrying borrowed books to and from school to ensure that they are protected as much as possible from leaking drink bottles etc.. The number of books a student can borrow are as follows: Kindergarten - 2 books Year 1 - 2 books Year 2 - 3 books Year 3 - 4 books Year 4 - 4 books Year 5 - 4 Books Year 6 - 4 books Overdue Books The Ashtonfield Library runs on a computer based system that produces notices if a book is not returned on time. Initially it will be a "yellow notice" that will be sent home. Please follow-up with your child to help them locate the book(s) and ensure they are returned to the library asap. A second "orange notice" will be sent home if the books are still not returned. This will be issued when then the book(s) are overdue by a month. If there is a problem with returning the book(s), please contact the office or library asasp. A final "red notice" will be issued if the book(s) are more than 2 months overdue, requesting payment so a replacement book can be purchased. Borrowing may be suspended until the book(s) is returned. Sometimes mistakes do happen and books may not be scanned correctly back into the library, so please contact the library if a student believes that they have previously returned the book. With over 600 students utilising the library we rely on parental assistance in following up on misplaced books, so your assistance in this is very much appreciated. Damaged Books Please advise of any damage to books, so where possible they can be repaired. If a book is returned in a state damaged beyond repair, an account will be issued requesting payment so a replacement book can be purchased. |
